Scratch Paper Drive
Good deeds are always rewarded.
Most documents of PACS, Inc. are released as hardcopies and thus, they require printing. In order to save budget from paper costs, the Publications Committee has started on the 2nd of September 2007 its newest project: the Scratch Paper Drive.
The Scratch Paper Drive aims to save money spent on papers used in some of PACS, Inc.'s printing materials. Files such as GA agenda sheets, attendance sheets, etc will be used in printed on scratch papers. Other documents such as sponsorship letters, resolutions, and the like will be printed normally. In the case of other documents not related to the ones previously mentioned, the Publications Committee, together with the President, will make a decision as to how they will be printed.
Though the project is not required, PACS, Inc. member societies are encouraged to take their part in this new activity. For every scratch paper handed, the respective member society will be given 0.5 PACS points. This means that the more scratch paper the member society donates, the more PACS points it gains. The project then is an easy way to earn PACS points.
The following are the qualifications of a scratch paper. Full 0.5 PACS points will be given if and only if all of these are met.:
- bond papers, copy papers, mimeograph/newsprint or specialty papers/boards (papers have to be in good condition)
- papers not exceeding Tabloid size (11” x 17”) but not smaller than A5 size (5.23” x 8.27”) (i.e., tabloid, letter, legal, A3, A4, A5, B4, and B5 sizes are accepted)
- one side of the paper has printings or writings
The following are not qualified as scratch papers and thus will not merit 0.5 PACS points.:
- art papers, oslo papers, cartolinas, onion skin, manila papers, and the like
- papers exceeding Tabloid size (11” x 17”) or of a size smaller than A5 (5.23” x 8.27”)
- both sides of the paper have printings or writings
- both sides of the paper do not have printings or writings
Scratch papers are to be handed out by member society representatives at the start of a General Assembly Meeting, The scratch papers must be given in bundles of fifty (50). It is important that the representatives have pre-counted the number of scratch papers they will submit. The Publications committee will then count the number of scratch papers received on a per bundle basis. In the next General Assembly Meeting, the Vice President for Publications will release a signed certification to the member society representatives regarding the number of scratch papers received (a summary of the earned PACS points will also appear in the said document). If there are no protests or complaints, the representatives concerned shall also sign the certification.A limit of one thousand (1000) donated scratch papers per month per member society shall be observed. Excess papers will be accepted but will not be awarded with points.
The Publications Committee will be responsible for the keeping of the scratch papers received.
